Day Twenty-Eight (nearly there...)

Day Twenty-Eight

Nearly there... well... not exactly! It's nearly the end of June but I'm almost 10k short of my 30k goal.

Why? It's not so much because I had those few days away from writing completely... more that I CAN'T switch off the internal editor and I'm actually struggling to decide whether this is a bad thing or not.

Let me elaborate...I'm almost 26k into my 60k story. They h&H have done the deed but I'm not sure they should have yet. I could just plod on writing and hope that I'll be able to fix this if it's wrong in the rewrites, well I could... but I just can't. I seem to NEED to have the scenes that come before the one I'm writing pretty much right before I can continue. So I'm umming and ahhing about whether to do some rewriting and insert a scene or two or to leave the book as is! It's a nightmare!!!

Anyway enough whinging.

Word count (last two days cos I forgot to count yesterday): 1638

Fave Line of the day/s:

‘You’re not one of those women who channel Oscar The Grouch before they’ve had coffee and a shower are you?’

Word Count Thus Far: 20849

I'm the same, Rach. If I have a niggle about a scene, I can't get into subsequent scenes. And it's been my experience that you should go with your instinct - if you feel it's too early then you may be right.

With 3 kids Rach, it's a miracle you get anything done. Pat yourself on the back for the 20, don't lament the 10 extra you dreamed of :)

Me too - although right now I need to fix my synopsis before I can progress any further, otherwise I will be up for major polishing later on....

PS - I think you have done SOOO well re your word count - life happens after all!

20k! Have a party! That 10k doesn't matter (we'll pretend the goal was 20 ;) )

I agree with Lacey - 26k is a fantastic achievement, try not to be too hard on yourself :-)

I'm the same Rach - if I don't feel a scene is working I get totally stuck until I've figured out what the problem is.

But yay for your fab word count! 20+k in one month is brilliant!

Do what works best for you Rach. When I'm doing sprints, I just let the scene take me where it wants to go. Eg today, I introduced a new character I didn't know existed.

Congrats on your word count - it's really fantastic. And you have to think that's 20K more than you had at the beginning of the month. Yay you. BTW - I love the line of the day. :)
