Consumed by Promo

Hey Faithful Blog Peeps

As I said, November was supposed to be chillax month for me - where I read lots of books to refill the creativity well. It's now 12 days into November and I think I've succeeded in reading one novel and one novella. NOT doing well at all.

The culprit sucking my chillax time?

PROMO!!!

As I want to start my next book in December (probably earlier if my itchy fingers are anything to go buy), I'm trying to do at least one guest blog post a day at the moment for everything I've got lined up around the release of ONE PERFECT NIGHT. And I'm trying to make the posts interesting and not generic so that anyone kind enough to read them will not be bored or feel like I'm shoving my books down their throats.

I'm actually really enjoying answering the guest blog questions and also writing up the posts I've been invited to do but it's amazing how time-consuming this task is. I know promo is NOT a dirty word and it's a fact of the writer's life but it IS cutting into my reading time.

I guess I just need to be more picky with what I read :)

Speaking of reading, what's the best book you've read this November?

x
Rach!

P.S. Hopefully I'll be able to share my good news this week!

I'm watching and learning from you, since January will be my "all promo" month! Hang in there, chillax will arrive at some point! Congratulations again on the book!

I know what you mean, Rach, but you're doing a wonderful job of blogging!!

As to favourite book I've read this month? Lioness by Katherine Scholes is right up there, but I have been sneaking a few others including Flesh and Bones by Kathy Reichs, and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. (Hadn't realised until I was typing this that the authors have all been some form of the name Kathryn - a little weird?)

Thanks Kez. I'll take you up on that if I can think of something more to blog about :)

Veronica - promo IS a lot of fun, just time-consuming!

Helene - how bizarre about the Kath's. I have The Help on my TBR pile. Might move it to the top :)

Ooh, the news is nearly upon us! Very exciting. You sound like you're super organised in terms of promo, and I know it will pay off. I like that you're doing a little vicarious reading through us while you don't have the time!

I'm reading Passionate Ink by Angela Knight, and really enjoying it. A great guide to writing romance sexy-style, as mentioned by Shona Husk when she guest blogged here a while back! Very grateful for the recommendation x

Ooh MAdeline - you'll have to blog about it. I've STILL got it on my shelf and STILL haven't looked into it yet :( Shame!

Oh, I hear you, Rach, and sympathise. Promo is such a time suck but it can also be good fun. And let's face it, we're lucky to be doing it!

Damn straight Cathryn. I'm definitely NOT complaining :)

Mel - you write so much, you must have to do promo ALL the time!

The Help is fabulous Rach. As is Room by Emma Donoghue. Both really different, unique stories.
You know the other book I've just read - Home for Christmas by Cally Taylor. fun!
