Well... the short answer is YES, it was! Extra character (as much as I loved him) is not required at all. In fact, the ed would much prefer if he was no where near the hero or heroine when they come to the realisation about the future of their love.
So... bye bye love sick secondary character!!
The long answer... she actually thinks my whole Black Moment has problems and wants me to rethink how I'm going to approach this. ARGH - can you hear me screaming from where you are!?
I'm sure if I ever manage to finish and sub this mss, I'll deserve whatever treat I can think of to give myself... cos right now it feels so hard!!!
But I am WOMAN. Hear me ROAR! I will conquer this writing this. And I WILL get published - one day or another !

Rach, about the length of time between rewrite/resub I spent a couple of months on the half rewrite that I did before I sold, because my editor gave me a clear deadline and I wanted to make sure I used the time she gave me. Rewrites I've done since selling? You may not want to know the answer to that...but my editor does NOT expect things as fast as I get them to her.
To quote Michelle S, the ed wants a ms they can buy, not one written quickly. You CAN do it babe!

Thanks so much ladies! Trouble had a little operation today so I've been otherwise occupied anyway. But good to know I have all you guys cheering for me when I feel like crying and tearing out my hair :)
